As part of the project we have produced an education pack. The 80 page booklet was written by Peter Daniel, Education Officer for Westminster Local Studies and his father John Daniel, a former lighterman.
It is 80 pages of facts, stories, photos and classroom activities covering the history of the Lighermen and is free to download for anyone interested below.
We have had various local history societies using it for talks and it is also being used in schools across London.
We have also produced a game to go with the pack. This is a Powerpoint quiz linked to the film - based on the old TV gameshow "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" - this contains music and questions linked to the history of the Thames Lightermen.
Both are free to download from the site. Simply click on the links below. The Powerpoint quiz is 19MB.
